How is age calculated exactly?
The calculator counts complete years from your date of birth to the reference date, then the leftover whole months, then the remaining days. This gives your exact age in the familiar "years, months and days" format.
How do I calculate my age manually?
Subtract your birth year from the current year, then subtract one more year if your birthday has not yet passed this year. For months and days, subtract field by field and borrow 12 months or the days in the previous month when needed.
Why do most forms ask for age in years only?
Age in completed years is a simple, standard figure used by schools, employers and government forms. It avoids ambiguity about months and days while staying accurate enough for most purposes.
